Lola #78460 October 2019

Little 8lb Lola was brought to Manhattan ACC as a stray by a woman who said her owner had passed away. She was in very bad shape and her prognosis was grave.

She was estimated to be 14 yrs old and on first look her most obvious issue was severe matting especially on her face, completely covering her eyes with a thick layer of knotted hair. After grooming we discovered she was blind, underweight, had a heart murmur & severe dental disease. She had muscle wasting, issues walking and an umbilical hernia.

Due to her her age & extensive medical issues it was highly likely that nobody would want to adopt poor neglected Lola, so we needed to find a rescue who would be able to pull her from the shelter and were willing to take care of her health and would be able to find someone who wanted to bring a senior dog into their home.

I was able to shave down Lolas body but we would need sedation to shave away the matts in front of her eyes, which were totally encased, and it felt great to finally remove the thick cushion of hair.

Amazingly there was both an adopter and a rescue interested in taking Lola and two days later she left the shelter and soon after was placed in the most amazing home who knew Lola had a lot of life left to live despite her medical issues.

Once she started on the right medications Lola’s health improved and she is now spending her golden years living the most amazing life, adventuring – hiking in her doggy backpack, exploring – running on the beach, and living the life of a queen – lounging on a float in the pool & getting spoiled rotten! Happy life miss (now) Nola. Dog Guy Foundation is very happy to have been able to be a part of this amazing success story.
