Cuddles #64973 June 2019

Cuddles was brought to the shelter by police after a building manager informed them that the owner had gone in to hospital and left her dog and cat unattended for a week.
Cuddles was a medical yellow upon intake meaning he was nothing like his namesake and he was given the behavior determination of New Hope only as he was deemed too aggressive to be made publicly adoptable. He needed to be sedated to be groomed safely.
After grooming, though, Cuddles was changed. No longer was he growling & snarling, wedged in a back corner of his kennel. He was up at the front seeking attention. He wanted to be loved and give love.
I saw one of the behavior team walking down the hallway with him and i asked if she noticed a difference in his personality. She said ‘are you kidding me?! We couldn’t even take him out of his kennel before!’ Cuddles was happily trotting by her side and as she stopped to talk to me I squatted down to say hi to the happy boy. He put his paw on my leg to steady himself as he reached up to kiss me and my heart just melted!
His behavior determination was changed from New Hope only to a green making him available for adoption. And he soon found his forever home with a wonderful 91 year old woman who is the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, who renamed him Romeo.

Cuddles, now named Romeo with his new Mom !
